About Me
I first encountered yoga whilst at university, I knew very little about the subject but I liked the sense of calm that attending a class brought.
I continued to practice throughout both of my pregnancies, and feel that it was due to my practice that I had two relatively straightforward pregnancies and labours.
It was after this that I felt the desire to share the gift of Yoga with others, and embarked on a teacher training course with Simon Low at The Yoga Academy in 2009.
I am passionate about teaching pregnancy and postnatal yoga completed my pregnancy and postnatal teacher training to an advanced level with Francoise Freedman of Birthlight. I have also attended specialist courses in promoting a positive birth after C-section, to aid recovery after C-section as well as promoting a positive birth experience with subsequent pregnancies. Teaching pregnancy yoga enables me to share with others the benefits I myself experienced through my practice during my own pregnancies. I have also undergone specific training in yoga therapy for women’s health, which covers areas such as fertility, prolapse and menopause.
I have completed Total Yoga Nidra teacher training with renowned teachers Uma Dunsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli of The Yoga Nidra Network. Yoga nidra is a fantastic gift I feel fortunate to be able to share. This is a deep, guided relaxation method which is incredibly beneficial for insomnia, stress, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, or just as a relaxation method.
I have also studied with the ‘Queen of restorative yoga’, Judith Hanson Lasater to become a certified Rest & Renew® level 2 teacher, sharing the therapeutic aspects of restorative yoga.
Training has also been undertaken in yoga for those affected by cancer with Julie Friedreberger, which I currently offer on a 1-2-1 basis.
I have completed a two year, 600 hour BCYT accredited yoga therapy diploma with Yogacampus, including clinical experience working with those with a wide range of physical and mental health conditions.
I believe strongly that yoga is for all, regardless of age or ability.
